Finnish Independence Day

Today is Finland’s Independence Day, an occasion set aside for Finnish patriotism and celebration of the country’s 94th birthday.

In Finland, shops decorate their windows in the blue and white of the Finnish flag and bakeries make cakes with blue and white icing.

Many U.P. residents are of Finnish decent, and one very special local store has been supplying Finnish flair to the community for nearly 30 years.
