Marquette Township Tree Lighting
Several community Christmas tree lighting ceremonies have taken place in the last week or two.
Marquette Township is joining them with one of its own.
The township has never held one until now.
But Sargent Evergreens of Rapid River has donated a 15–foot tree.
It was put up outside the Westwood Mall this afternoon, and it’ll be lit tomorrow night as part of an evening of family–friendly activities.
Township Manager Randy Girard says the impetus behind the tree lighting came from the Township Board and the Community Events Committee that it created.
The tree lighting will take place at 6 tomorrow night in the mall parking lot, right next to the mall’s large road sign on US-41.
