NMU Ladies B-ball easily defeats Alma

Midland, Mich.- A career-high 13 points from freshman center Courtney
Lemon propelled the Northern Michigan women’s basketball team to a 71-39
win over Alma College on Friday (Nov. 18) at the Northwood Classic.
The win is the first on the season for NMU (1-1), while Alma drops to (0-2).
The ‘Cats never trailed during the game and led by no less than two points
throughout the contest. NMU held a nine point, 30-21 lead at the break.
NMU came out on fire in the second half, outscoring the Scots 41-18 behind
an impressive bench performance.
Center Courtney Lemon scored all eight of her 13 points in the second
half, on four of five from the field.
Senior guard Chelsea Lyons also reached double figures with 12 points and
eight rebounds. Freshman forward Abbey DeBriun also had six points and
eight rebounds.
The ‘Cats out-rebounded the Scots 51-42 and shot 43.9 percent from the
field. NMU connected on 5-16 from beyond the arc.
NMU had 36 bench points and had 19 points off of Alma turnovers. The
‘Cats also had 17 second chance points.
