Archive Open House Today
An open house to celebrate the completion of major archiving project will be held today at Michigan Tech.
The two year effort set out to improve descriptions of the Archive’s extensive holdings of regional manuscript material.
During the project, a box-by-box survey of the Archive’s entire collection was conducted. More than seven thousand cubic feet was sorted through…including personal papers, diaries, and business records.
Descriptions of the more than 700 collections were created and made available through the Archive’s website that can be accessed by researchers around the globe.
Tonight’s open house begins at 6pm and will also introduce Elizabeth Russell…the primary cataloger on the project who has been recently hired as a full-time archivist.
The event is free and open to the public.
