Founders Landing Condo Groundbreaking
Piece by piece, the redevelopment of Marquette’s Founders Landing area is taking shape.
Construction on another piece has just gotten underway.
City officials and the developers, the Landing Development Group, held a groundbreaking ceremony this morning.
The new Everett Building will be 3 stories high, and it’ll be very similar to the neighboring Ripley Building, which is already occupied.
The new units should be ready for occupancy late next summer.
Barry Polzin of the Landing Development Group says there’ll be nine units in the Everett Building, and construction will continue as far through the winter as possible with a goal of opening the units next August.
The construction is taking place across the street from the ongoing construction of a Hampton Inn.
The 84–room hotel was originally scheduled to open this past july.
Polzin says the hotel construction will also go on through as much of the winter as possible.
The Everett Building will be two feet shorter in height than the existing Ripley Building.
Polzin says the change may help address residents’ concerns about their views of the water being blocked.
