Plane Crash in Russia Kills 43, inlcuding KHL Hockey Team
At approximately 12 noon Russian time, a plane carrying the Kontinental Hockey Leagues Lokomotiv hockey team, crashed shortly after take off.
The plane had trouble attaining flight, hit a tower, and then crashed into a river.
Among the 43 dead were Brad McCrimmon and Russian Salei.
McCrimmon previously spent the last 3 years as an assistant coach with the Detroit Red Wings. He took the job as head coach with the Lokomotiv hockey team in late May.
Salei played this past NHL season with the Detroit Red Wings and was not offered a contract after this past season.
A flight attendant and a Russian hockey player are the only survivors.
