Wildfire Danger Still High After Weekend Rain
The wildfire that scorched about 100 acres in Marquette County still has fire crews busy today.
The cause is still unknown.
So with the warm July that we just had, what’s the fire danger like in the U.P. at the moment?
It depends on how much rain you received from the cloudburst that hit some areas on Saturday.
DNR fire specialist Bryce Avery says if you’re in the southern U.P., you probably got enough rain for the wildfire danger to drop.
But for the northern half of the U.P., the risk is still quite high.
The wildfire in the Silver Lake basin that started Friday afternoon is 100% contained.
No structures were threatened, and no one was hurt in the firefighting effort either.
