USOEC Weightlifter Wins National Title
The 2011 National Weightlifting Championships took place in Council Bluffs, Iowa over the weekend.
And a U.S. Olympic Education Center weightlifter has won a national title in her weight class.
Vanessa McCoy won the women\’s 63–kilogram weight division.
McCoy lifted 83 kilos in the snatch and posted a clean and jerk of 98 kilos for a combined total of 181.
Ali Henry placed second in the women\’s 69–kilogram weight class.
She posted a personal record total of 188 kilos, with a snatch of 88 and a 100–kilo clean and jerk.
Among the USOEC men, Ryan Borges finished third in the 62-kilogram class and Chris Lenahen finished eighth at 94 kilograms.
Former USOEC weightlifter Sarah Robles also won her third consecutive national title in the women\’s above–75–kilogram weight class.
This was a qualifying event for the Senior World Championships in Paris, France, later in the year.
The world championhips also serve as an olympic qualifying event.
