Privitization of Services Does Not Pertain to the D.J Jacobetti Facility
THERE HAVE BEEN SOME LOCAL CONCERNS VOICED IN THE UPPER PENINSULA ABOUT A PRIVATIZATION OF SERVICES AT THE D.J. JACOBETTI VETERAN’S FACILITY IN MARQUETTE.
A MEETING WAS HELD AT THE FACILITY THIS MORNING.
THE MEETING INVOLVED THE ADMINISTRATION OF BOTH THE MARQUETTE AND THE GRAND RAPIDS V–A FACILITY.
V–A OFFICIALS SAY THE PRIVATIZATION ISSUE OF STAFF CARING FOR THE VETERANS DOES “NOT” PERTAIN TO THE MARQUETTE V–A.
THE CHANGING FACE OF WAR WILL CAUSE CHANGES IN BOTH FACILITIES: IN THE NUMBERS OF VETERANS AS WELL AS IN THEIR MEDICAL NEEDS.
THE D.J. JACOBETTI CENTER OPENED IN MARQUETTE IN 1986.
IT CAN HOUSE CLOSE TO 250 VETERANS AT A TIME.
