Severe Thunderstorm Warning
Much of Upper Michigan is under a severe thunderstorm warning at this hour.
About 90 minutes ago, National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing quarter-sized hail.
The storm is expected to have winds in excess of 60 miles an hour.
It’s moving through western Marquette County, headed toward Ishpeming, Negaunee and Marquette.
The Weather Service says the storm has the potential for damaging winds, destructive hail, deadly lightning and very heavy rain.
As the system moves through, you should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of your home or business.
A severe thunderstorm watch , meaning conditions are good for another storm to develop, is in effect until 10 tonight in these U.P. counties: Alger, Chippewa, Delta, Dickinson, Luce, Mackinac, Marquette, Menominee and Schoolcraft counties.
