NMU\’s Catalano Signs With Sacramento of UFL
Former Northern Michigan University football player Daniel Catalano has signed with the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League. Catalano participated in the final open tryout over the weekend and was one of five players selected by head coach Dennis Green and his staff to play for the Mountain Lions in 2011.
Catalano had 111 tackles (49 solo and 62 assisted) in his four-year career
at NMU. He also had 11.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. Catalano was a
Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Honorable Mention last
season and was a three-time GLIAC All-Academic selection.
\”We had an exciting weekend of two tryouts in Sacramento, Green said. We were really impressed with a lot of players at the tryouts, but we did not want these particular (five) players to leave with out knowing of our
willingness to commit to them on the spot. They have the talent and
potential to help us be a tremendous team in our upcoming season.\”
Green has been the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona
Cardinals of the NFL.
