With the higher gas prices, there is likely to be an impact on leisure travel.
When gas was at record highs in 2008, the travel industry saw an impact as air travel costs increased.
So far, that has not been an issue.
Laura Nelson of Holiday Travel in Marquette says that may be due to travelers being more careful in their planning.
And, despite the continuing unrest and uncertainty in the middle east, u–p residents are making only a few changes to overseas travel plans.
She says customers she’s spoken with still want to go places and have fun regardless of what fuel prices are.

These are issued when it’s recommended that Americans avoid or consider the risk of travel to certain counties.
