Taylor Named GLIAC North Player of the Week
MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan junior guard DeAndre Taylor (Chicago, Ill./Thornwood) has been named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division player of the week.
Taylor led the ‘Cats to a split of games over the weekend, including the first conference win for NMU on Thursday. Taylor averaged 21.5 points per game while shooting 58 percent from the field. Taylor also had 11 rebounds and seven steals on the weekend. He scored 22 points in the 82-72 win over Ohio Dominican on Thursday and 21 points in the 73-76 loss to Tiffin on Sunday.
Taylor has started all 12 games for the ‘Cats this season and leads the team in minutes per game (30.3) and steals (25). He is second on the team in scoring, averaging 14.6 points per game while shooting 52 percent from the floor this season. He has scored in double figures in 11 of the 12 games for the Wildcats this season.
NMU is 6-6 on the season and 1-4 in the GLIAC. The Wildcats travel to Houghton on Thursday (Jan. 6) to take on Michigan Tech for the second time this season.
