Strong Start to Firearm Deer Season
Five days into the 2010 firearm deer season, hunters are already calling it a success.
The DNRE says check stations are up about 10% in the amount of deer they’ve seen so far.
Officials are seeing more 8-pointers coming in.
The ages of the bucks is ranging from 2 and a half years to 4 and a half years.
Typically, stations see younger deer harvested than that.
The DNRE also says the deer in northern Wisconsin that had initially tested positive for chronic wasting disease was a false positive.
That means there will not be a baiting and feeding ban for the U.P.
