Senior Memory Care Facility Under Construction
More and more older residents are putting down roots in Marquette.
That means support services to care for us as we enter our golden years have to expand.
A new facility like that is opening in Marquette next year.
It’s called Mill Creek Memory Care, and it’ll be in the Harlow Farms area of Marquette.
L.R. Swadley of Sunrise Builders, the company constructing the facility, says it’ll have room for about 30 people at full occupancy.
He says he’s pleased about the added options for in-house care that Alzheimer’s patients and their families will have.
Swadley, staff at Mill Creek Assisted Living and Marquette Mayor John Kivela had a groundbreaking ceremony for the facility today even though construction started a few weeks ago.
Kivela says the demand for a facility like this is especially high in Marquette because of a demographic shift taking place in the city.
He says Marquette is becoming a destination to which people retire, so care facilities to treat people as they age are badly needed.
Mill Creek Memory Care is a $3.5 million project, and Swadley says it’ll add 20 to 25 new full-time jobs to the area.
That’s besides the additional construction work.
The facility should open next summer.
