Guilty Plea to Embezzling Money for Cancer Patient
The Gladstone woman accused of stealing from the family of a girl fighting cancer pleads guilty.
35-year-old Debra Golzynski has admitted to larceny by conversion of $1,000 to $20,000.
Golzynski stole money that she’d raised for Taytem Drossard, an 11-year-old Gladstone girl who’s fighting brain cancer.
There was a fundraiser in Gladstone last fall to help offset medical and travel costs for the girl’s family.
Golzynski was collecting the money for that.
She used $1,200 of it to pay her own mortgage, but she told the court she’s since repaid what she embezzled.
Golzynski will get her sentence on April 7th, and it could be up to 5 years in prison.
