School Calendar Change Possible in Negaunee
Negaunee students may soon have longer class days for the rest of the school year.
The school board and the teachers’ union have signed a letter of agreement to cut 5 days from the calendar for this school year.
But that class time has to be made up somehow.
If the measure goes through, the school day for Negaunee kids would be 30 minutes longer every day starting Monday.
It’s in response to a projected $260,000+ deficit this school year and a projected deficit of up to $1.2 million for next year.
School officials are meeting with the Negaunee Education Association tonight to hammer out the issue further.
We’ll have more about this coming up tomorrow night on UGN News.
