Tech Women\’s Basketball Moves to Third

LILBURN, Ga. — The Michigan Tech women’s basketball team moved up one spot to No. 3 in this week’s USA TODAY/ESPN Division II Coaches’ Poll. The Huskies won twice last week to run their winning streak to 12 games.

Tech defeated Ferris State Thursday (Feb. 11) by a 64-41 score and Grand Valley State Saturday (Feb. 13) by a 68-47 count. The Huskies have held four consecutive GLIAC foes under 50 points (a school record) to improve to 22-1 overall and 17-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Black and Gold lead the GLIAC by three games with four regular season contests remaining.

The nation’s only two remaining undefeated teams—Franklin Pierce (23-0) and Gannon (26-0)—rank ahead of Michigan Tech. Indianapolis, the previous No. 2, has lost twice since last week’s poll came out. Only its most recent loss was figured into the poll.

Michigan Tech travels to Findlay and Hillsdale this week for its final two regular season road games. The games are Thursday (Feb. 18) and Saturday (Feb. 20), respectively.
