5-Year-Old Girl Dead in Brimley Snowmobile Wreck

A 5-year-old Canadian girl is dead after an eastern U.P. snowmobile crash over the weekend.

Bay Mills Tribal Law Enforcement says it happened Saturday on Lakeshore Drive, just west of Brimley.

37-year-old Ian Galbraith of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was trying to cross the street on his snowmobile.

But he never saw an oncoming Jeep, pulled into its path and got hit.

Galbraith’s 5-year-old daughter, Kieleigh Gavi-Galbraith, was riding with him.

The impact threw both of them from the sled.

Kieleigh died from her injuries at War Memorial Hospital in the Soo.

Ian Galbraith is still there tonight; his condition has not been released.

Tribal Law Enforcement is still looking into the crash, but both Galbraiths were wearing helmets and alcohol use doesn’t appear to be a factor.
