College Goal Sunday at NMU

For college students, high school seniors and their families, financial aid applications can be overwhelming.

But financial aid groups all over Michigan are pitching in their time to help alleviate any concerns.

An annual financial aid help event called College Goal Sunday is going on this Sunday at more than 30 sites across the state.

Bay College in Escanaba and Northern Michigan University in Marquette are 2 of them.

Financial staff from all over the state, including NMU’s Financial Aid Office, are dedicating their time to help families apply for aid.

They’ll be using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, which is usually called the FAFSA for short.

NMU Financial Aid Office Director Mike Rotundo recommends applying by the FAFSA’s primary date, which is March 1st.

With the current shaky economy, Rotundo also says financial aid offices can work with families if the financial situation of the family changes.

If your family is going, he recommends you bring tax information with you, because you need that to fill out the FAFSA.

College Goal Sunday is in NMU’s University Center from 1 to 4.
