DNRE OK’s Kennecott Permits for Humboldt Mill
The Michigan DNRE gives Kennecott the OK to reopen and reuse the old Humboldt Mill.
The DNRE has granted Kennecott the state environmental permits for the mill that it asked for.
There’s an air use permit for new sources of air emissions, a pollutant discharge elimination system permit, a non-ferrous metal mining permit and an inland lakes and streams permit so Kennecott can place tailings in the Humboldt Pit.
The mill has sat unused for 25 years now.
We’ll have much more about this coming up tomorrow night on UGN News.
