Tech\’s Wysocky is GLIAC Player of the Week for 5th Time
BAY CITY, Mich. — For the fifth time this season, Michigan Tech women’s basketball senior Katie Wysocky (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) has been named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Player of the week. Wysocky averaged 24 points and 13 rebounds in two road wins last week to help the No. 5-ranked Huskies improve to 16-1 overall and 11-1 in league play.
Wysocky notched 28 points, 15 rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 91-54 victory at Saginaw Valley State last Thursday (Jan. 21). The 6-0 forward followed that up with 20 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals in a 72-67 win at Lake Superior State last Saturday (Jan. 23). Wysocky has posted 20 points five times in the last six games and nine times this season. She has also recorded 14 double-doubles.
Michigan Tech has had the GLIAC North Division Player of the Week six of a possible nine times this season. Wysocky has been chosen five times and teammate Danae Danen (Green Bay, Wis./Ashwaubenon) once.
Tech will take its six-game winning streak to Allendale, Mich., Thursday (Jan. 28) for a first-place showdown with Grand Valley State (14-3, 11-1 GLIAC). The Huskies will also face Ferris State during the road trip with a Saturday (Jan. 30) game in Big Rapids, Mich.
