Ishpeming Murder Prelim Postponed

An Ishpeming man charged with 2nd-degree murder has a longer wait for his next court appearance.

46-year-old Leslie Bushong was scheduled to have his District Court preliminary exam this coming Monday.

But now it’s been postponed.

Court staff say Bushong didn’t waive his right to a prelim exam, so he will still likely have one.

However, it hasn’t been rescheduled yet.

Bushong is accused of murdering 51-year-old Wayne Perry of Ishpeming.

On January 5th, police found Perry unconscious at Bushong’s house on West Johnson Street.

Perry died at Bell Hospital that night.

Police originally thought it was an overdose, but an autopsy revealed head injuries that were invisible to the naked eye.

They arrested Bushong in Ishpeming Township 2 weeks ago.

He’s in the Marquette County Jail on $500,000 bond.
