Embezzlement Trial Date Set for Former Alpha Clerk
A former village official in Iron County will go back to court on May 3rd.
37-year-old Tommie McCarthy used to be the village clerk in Alpha.
He had a pre-trial conference in his embezzlement case earlier today.
McCarthy will have a supplemental pre-trial conference on May 3rd.
Then his trial will be May 26th through the 28th.
McCarthy is accused of embezzlement of $100,000 or more, embezzlement by a public officer and embezzlement of taxes or other public money.
State troopers from the Iron River Post have said McCarthy was still living in Alpha and serving as the village clerk at the time of the alleged incident.
He now lives across the state line in Niagara.
