Laid-Off U.P. State Troopers Back at Work
Nearly 30 laid-off Michigan State Police troopers are back on the job today thanks to federal stimulus funds.
The money was enough to recall 28 officers back to work, with 6 of them returning to Upper Peninsula posts.
2 have come back to the Wakefield Post effective today.
One each has returned to the Newberry, Manistique, Calumet and Iron River Posts.
It brings the number of troopers in the state to 1,029 — 135 in the U.P.
55 more laid-off troopers returned to work in November.
The 2 recalls mean that out of the 100 who were laid off last June, 10 still haven’t been brought back to work yet.
