90 Days in Jail for Church Embezzler

A Dickinson County woman is going to jail for 90 days and spending 2 years on probation for stealing from her church.

45-year-old Lynn Ackerman of Foster City was once the treasurer of Zion Lutheran Church in Felch.

She’d originally been accused of embezzlement by an agent or trustee worth $20,000 to $50,000.

But she got the charge reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor.

She pleaded guilty in November to attempted larceny from a building.

Ackerman will also have to pay a little more than $39,000 restitution.

An audit last year found more than $25,000 missing from church accounts.

Ackerman had also been accused of writing church checks to herself for more than $8,000.

The embezzlement is said to have happened from January 2005 to last January.
