Catholic Social Services Scaling Back
The Marquette Catholic Diocese is finding it harder and harder to support one of the service agencies under its umbrella.
It’s Catholic Social Services of the U.P.
4 of the agency’s 7 branch offices are closing at the end of January.
Those are Houghton, Ironwood, Iron River and Sault Ste. Marie.
The agency has 26 employees, and 9 of them will lose their jobs — 4 full-timers and 5 part-time employees.
Clients of the closed offices who still need help will get referred to other local therapists.
The group’s board is looking for a new executive director at the moment as well.
The Marquette, Escanaba and Iron Mountain offices will stay open.
We’ll have more about this for you coming up Wednesday on UGN News.
