Alleged Extortion Plot Against Actor
The FBI is accusing a Marquette man and a Marquette woman of trying to extort a TV and Broadway actor over the Internet.
Scott Sippola and Allison Coss are charged in federal court with intent to extort money from a person, transmitted in interstate commerce.
The FBI says an unnamed actor contacted the Bureau through his attorney right after Thanksgiving to say he’d been targeted in an extortion plot.
According to the Bureau, the attorney told them the actor met Allison Coss and a male friend of hers while on vacation in Florida 5 years ago.
The 3 of them were photographed together at a party.
The attorney said the actor recently got threats over e-mail that the pictures would be sold to the media unless he paid nearly $700,000 for them.
The FBI set up a meeting for last Wednesday at Sawyer Airport to exchange the money.
The Bureau says that they arrested Coss at that meeting, and that Sippola was with her.
