Ishpeming Schools Closed until Next Tuesday
Chalk up yet another U.P. school district canceling classes because of flu concerns.
Ishpeming schools will be closed the rest of the week and also next Monday.
Superintendent Dr. Stephen Piereson says it’s because of a large number of cases of students out sick.
Classes will start back up as scheduled next Tuesday.
Piereson says activities are being reviewed on an event-by-event basis.
That includes Ishpeming’s home football game scheduled for tomorrow night against Gwinn.
The Dollar Bay-Tamarack City schools also opened back up for a while today, but now they’re closed for the rest of the week as well.
The Rapid River schools and Holy Name School in Escanaba have been closed the last 2 days.
They’re all planning to open again tomorrow.
St. Francis de Sales School in Manistique is also closed the rest of the week.
They have absences they’re crediting to flu and others coming from parents keeping their kids home out of concern they might catch it.
