Labor Day Tea Party Rally in Houghton

Tea Party rallies return amidst the never–ending health care reform debate. There was one going on this afternoon in Houghton.

Concerned Citizens of the UP (CCUP) met with residents at Houghton’s Veterans Park to make their voices heard regarding certain political issues. The event began with a march across the lift bridge. Speakers at the event included former State Rep Tom Casperson and Linda Goldthorpe, who is attempting to challenge Democratic Incumbent Bart Stupak for the 1st Congressional District at the next election.

The main issue brought up, was of course, health care reform. Both sides of the debate were present, as several members of the Houghton County Democratic Party were in attendance.

There was also a question and answer panel, as well as a few musical acts.
