Vandenboom Hosting YMCA Preschool
Marquette-area elementary students won’t be at Vandenboom School anymore.
But the doors are staying open for some of the area’s youngest kids.
The Marquette County YMCA will be offering year-round preschool and before-and-after-school child care for the first time ever.
The Marquette Area Public Schools aren’t using Vandenboom as a school anymore, but the ‘Y’ is just one of several groups that *are* using it.
The Great Lakes Center for Youth Development and the Central U.P. chapter of the Red Cross both moved in recently.
The center hopes to be open later this month, but they’re currently going through the licensing process.
The school building gives the ‘Y’ more than enough space for it.
4 new teachers will be there to offer structured programming for the young ones.
The ‘Y’ is already taking registrations for the preschool and child care programs.
And they’re having an open house tomorrow night from 5 to 8.
