Community Meeting for Marquette Marinas

Residents and boaters gathered to Lakeview Arena tonight to find out more about what may lie ahead in future development plans for Marquette’s marinas. The city staff of Marquette held a public review session for draft elements for the reconstruction of the Presque Isle marina and preliminary design of a third marina at Founders Landing.

The city staff focused primarily on Presque Isle marina’s future plans.

The marina’s initial plan costS roughly 2 million in 2009 dollars and

with half of the funding from the city fund balance, the community input is crucial. After a presentation by the city staff, a question and answer was held for the public. Various concerns were raised but as a whole, the meeting was beneficial for everyone including the public. The city still wants to hear from other residents about their thoughts for the two marinas.A survey can be completed on the internet, with the marina’s Facebook page, or at various places in Marquette including the marinas, the Community Service Office at Lakeview Arena or at the Peter White Public Library.
