Snowmobile Wreck Kills Marquette County Man
A 50-year-old man is dead after a snowmobile crash in Champion.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department says it happened a little after 10 last night on Trail #5, near the Champion Horsepulling Grounds.
The man’s name wasn’t available this afternoon, but police say he was from Champion.
They believe he lost control of the sled, got thrown from it and hit a tree.
He died at the scene.
This makes 7 people who’ve died in snowmobile accidents in the U.P. this winter.
There were 6 last year.
The state as a whole has seen 21 deaths.
Last winter, there were 25.
