Fatal Snowmobile Accidents
A downstate man is dead after a snowmobile accident in the eastern U.P.
The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department says it happened late yesterday afternoon in Whitefish Township, which is near Paradise.
Police are withholding the man’s name until his next of kin are notified.
But he’s a 42-year-old man from downstate Chesterfield.
He was pronounced dead a little before 6:00 at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital.
And a Hancock man is found dead after he’d gone missing on his snowmobile.
Hancock police say a friend of 41-year-old Richard Scott found his body yesterday afternoon a few feet from Swedetown Creek, near M-203.
Police say it looked like his body had been there for several days because it was frozen and covered with snow.
His sled was in the frozen creek.
Scott was last seen alive a week ago last Sunday.
He was reported missing last weekend.
