Vulcan Man Cleared of CSC Charges
A Dickinson County man granted a new trial on sex abuse charges won’t have to go to trial again after all.
The charges against 63-year-old Wayne Dabb of Vulcan have been dismissed.
Dabb’s new trial had been scheduled to begin today.
He was convicted in late 2005 of 4 counts of 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Dabb was accused of assaulting 2 different children under the age of 13.
He served more than 2 years in prison for that.
But at his trial, he wasn’t allowed to introduce evidence to show a possible bias or ulterior motive behind the charges.
The State Court of Appeals said that mistake was severe enough to get him a new trial, so it overturned his convictions.
Dabb was released from the Chippewa Correctional Facility in Kincheloe last July.
Dickinson County Prosecutor Stephanie Brule has decided to not bring the case back to court.
