Domestic Violence Incident Leads to 2 Deaths
A wide range of law enforcement agencies are looking into a stabbing death in Baraga County last night where the suspect was later shot to death himself.
State police from the L’Anse post say it began shortly before 9 last night on the Keewenaw Bay Indian Community reservation.
They say a man stabbed his 23-year-old girlfriend to death during an argument and fled the scene.
The woman was a KBIC member.
A little after 9, troopers found the suspect’s vehicle on US-41.
He crashed the car near Alberta and ignored verbal commands to surrender.
Police say the suspect then lunged at an officer, causing the trooper to shoot him.
The suspect died on the way to Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
US-41 was closed while staff from the Marquette state police crime lab were at the shooting scene.
The names of everyone involved haven’t been released yet.
