Sheriff’s Deputy Will Plead in Assault Case
A Delta County sheriff’s deputy accused of misdemeanor aggravated assault is going to avoid a trial by pleading guilty.
48-year-old Brian Lauscher of Gladstone is accused of attacking an Escanaba man in June.
43-year-old Ron Beauchamp went to the ER at OSF St. Francis Hospital for treatment.
Lauscher was off-duty at the time.
His plea and sentencing are set for December 1st.
The hearing could involve a plea to assault and battery.
It’s a 3-month misdemeanor, as opposed to the 1-year maximum sentence for aggravated assault.
Lauscher was arrested last month.
He’s free on a $500 personal recognizance bond, and he’s still on the job with the Sheriff’s Department.
