Cable Outage May Lead to Criminal Charges

There may be criminal charges coming out of a cable outage last week.

It happened on October 1st, coming from a damaged overhead line on County Road 444 in Turin Township.

The damage to the fiber-optic cable took down Charter service in Escanaba and most of Dickinson County for several hours.

A local resident may be responsible.

The sheriff’s department says it looks like someone blasted the cable with a shotgun, and they have a suspect in mind.

They’ve turned the case over to the county prosecutor’s office, and they’ll determine if any charges are necessary.
