White Pine School District Will Die in March

The White Pine school board in Ontonagon County disbanded at the end of June.

Now the days are numbered for the school district itself.

The state has approved the White Pine district’s plan to dissolve.

It’ll cease to exist on March 15th.

The school property it used to use until 2005 has also been sold.

Jesse Monville is a White Pine High School grad, and he’s bought his own former school for $10,000.

If White Pine School were still open, it would have 65 students right now.

40 of them go to school in Ontonagon, and the rest in Ewen Trout Creek.

Ontonagon will pay compensation for kids from White Pine who attend Ewen-Trout Creek every year.
