U.P. Marks Fire Prevention Week
It’s National Fire Prevention Week, and firefighters both across the U.P. and elsewhere are doing what they can to get the word out about safety.
Marquette’s city fire department is joining in that effort.
They’re hosting a series of classes for youngsters to teach the proper way of dealing with a fire.
It’s a lesson open to students of all ages.
The kids get to talk with the firefighters, check out the trucks and see their heroes in uniform.
Lt. E.J. Porter says the chance that the class provides to bring students face-to-face with firefighters helps them learn things that might help save their lives.
The fire department will be teaching the prevention classes not just during Fire Prevention Week, but throughout next week as well.
