ORV vs. Semi Weekend Accident
An Ontonagon man is recovering tonight after getting hit by a semi while riding his ORV.
That’s according to state troopers from the Ontonagon detachment.
They say 70-year-old Albert Bitschenauer was riding a little before 11 Central time Saturday morning on Walsh Road in Carp Lake Township.
He was trying to cross the road from a posted trail when an oncoming semi hit him.
Bitschenauer was taken to Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital for treatment, but after that, he was transferred to St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.
There’s no update on how he’s doing there tonight, but he was in critical condition at last report.
Police say a 46-year-old Hurley, Wisconsin man was driving the semi and tried to avoid the crash, but he couldn’t.
He wasn’t hurt in the accident.
