Esky HS Reopening After Bomb Threat
Escanaba High School will be open as usual for class tomorrow after a bomb threat shut it down for the day today.
School officials say that on Friday night, they received a bomb threat that specifically mentioned today.
City public safety officers are looking into it, but they haven’t turned up anything yet.
Their bomb-sniffing dog also went through the school without finding anything.
If it turns out a student made the threat, that student would be expelled and would also face criminal charges.
There were 2 bomb threats at the school last fall, 2 weeks apart.
Bark River-Harris also received one at about the same time.
Both schools had received threats against them in 2006 as well.
The most recent bomb threat to shut down a U.P. school happened back in May at North Star Academy in Marquette Township.
