“Soar & Explore” with Michigan libraries
ESCANABA — If you are looking for some fun and adventure, you might want to visit your local library.
Along with providing books and educational resources, local libraries are participating in the Michigan Activity pass program. Michigan library cardholders receive a free one–day pass to visit an endless list of state parks, historic sites, cultural attractions, campgrounds and recreation areas.
“A patron would merely walk in, identify the library they are associated with, tell us how far of a distance they would like to go or earmark a specific cultural activity or park they would like to take advantage of,” said Adult Services Librarian Monique Ciofu, Escanaba Public Library.
Escanaba library’s Michigan Activity Pass program is set–up where you can print the pass at home and it is good for one week from the time you print it. The pass allows you admittance into more than one hundred Michigan favorites.
“As a librarian we provide access to information and this is information in a different format. It is information to help people get active and healthy by visiting parks and other institutions as there are both indoor and outdoor activities that enrich people both in a physical way and in an emotional or cultural way,” continued Ciofu.
The activity pass program ends May of 2016. to download a pass pop into your participating local library. or visit them online. www.escanabalibrary.org or www.michiganactivitypass.info.
