PROPOSAL 14–2

COUNTYWIDE ROAD MILLAGE PROPOSAL

This proposal will permit the County to levy 2 mills for the purpose of providing funds for the maintenance and repair of roads within the County in the years 2015–2019, inclusive.

Shall tax limitation upon the total amount of general ad valorem taxes imposed upon real and tangible personal property for all purposes in any one year under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution of 1963 be increased in the County of Keweenaw Michigan by a new 2.00 mills (which is equal to $2.00 per $1,000.00 of taxable value of all such property) for a period of 5 years, 2015 through 2019, inclusive, for the purpose of providing funds exclusively for highway, road and street purposes and the maintenance and repair of roads in accord with MCL 224.20b within the townships and village of the County of Keweenaw, and shall the County of Keweenaw be authorized to levy such millage for these purposes? The proposed millage is a new additional County millage. The amount of revenue the County of Keweenaw will collect if the millage is approved and levied by the County is estimated to be $266,000.00 in the first calendar year.

EAGLE HARBOR TOWNSHIP PROPOSAL

Eagle Harbor Township Emergency Services Millage Proposal

Shall the expired previous voted increase in the tax limitations imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution in Eagle Harbor Township, of 1 (one) mil ($1(one dollar) per $1,000 of taxable value), reduced to .9978 mil ($.9978 per $1,000 of taxable value) by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed at and increased up to the original voted 1 (one) mil ($1(one dollar) per $1,000 of taxable value) and levied for 4 (four) years, 2014 through 2017 inclusive, designated solely for the purpose of providing funds for emergency services including but not limited to fire protection and medical first responders, raising an estimated $41,264 in the first year the millage is levied?

HOUGHTON TOWNSHIP PROPOSAL

Shall Houghton Township be authorized to levy a RENEWAL of 3 mils ($3 per $1,000 of taxable value) in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX of the Michigan Constitution and levy it for five years, 2014–2018 inclusive, for continuing operational expenses, which 3 mils will raise an estimated $24,000 in the first year the millage is levied?
