Ishpeming looks to fill vacant school board seat

There is an opening on the Ishpeming School Board after one of its members resigned.

Angela Kiviniemi resigned August 21 because she moved out of the district.

The board is beginning its search for a replacement and hopes to have the position filled by its next meeting.  It is looking for someone who wants to get involved and is passionate about Ishpeming’s schools.

“It’s a selfless position,” Ishpeming Superintendent John Summerhill said.  “You don’t get into this position because you want to stand on a pedestal, you want to be under the pedestal and hold it up, so you want someone who wants to make a difference but doesn’t need the accolades that go along with it.”

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the Ishpeming School District.  Applications will be posted to the district’s website.
