Senior Citizen Well Being Checks
The UP’s population is aging.
And the onset of winter weather makes it more difficult for many older residents to travel. That means living independently can become more difficult. To stay safe, the Michigan State Police suggest checking with a physician.
A doctor will be able to recommend some simple measures that can help.
Local senior centers are also a valuable resource.
The well–being checks reinforce the idea that there are people around who can be counted on in an emergency. And there are other measures to help anyone who may have trouble getting around.
Trooper Rasanen says if you want some other ideas, you can call her at the Negaunee State Police Post at 475–9922.
