Woman arrested for RX fraud
A 32 year old Ramsay, Michigan woman was arrested this morning on a two count Felony warrant issued by the Gogebic County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The suspect is charged with the manufacture and delivery of fraudulent prescription forms in both Ironwood Township and the City of Ironwood.
Evidence was seized from the suspect’s home in Ramsay during the execution of a search warrant on an earlier date. Initially, the Hurley Police Department began in investigation of an attempt to fill a fraudulent prescription within their city.
Further investigation led to information that the suspect had attempted to fill fraudulent prescriptions throughout Gogebic, Iron and Ashland counties. The information was turned over to the Gogebic Iron Area Narcotics Team for further investigation, resulting in the arrest. Charges are also pending in Iron and Ashland Counties in Wisconsin.
The suspect’s named is being withheld pending arraignment and is currently being held in the Gogebic County Jail on a $100,000 subject to 10% bond. With each count, the suspect faces seven years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine.
