Kingsford Mail Center’s Fate Still Unknown
A decision has not been made yet on whether or not the U.S. Postal Service mail distribution center in Kingsford has survived the chopping block.
Bankruptcy fears are forcing the Postal Service to make major cuts to first–class mail, including raising the cost of first-class stamps by a penny.
Next-day first–class letter delivery would end.
The changes will take effect in the spring.
It’s an attempt to cut $3 billion from the budget.
Those changes could also slow all mail delivery.
The cuts would also close roughly 250 of the nearly 500 mail processing centers across the country as early as next March.
