Armed Robbery Update: Green Chevy Malibu Sought
Police in Chocolay Township are continuing to look for a green Chevrolet Malibu. They think the driver of the vehicle may have information that will aid in the investigation into an armed robbery Wednesday at the Northern Michigan Band and Trust in Harvey. The person driving the vehicle, which was spotted near the bank within minutes of the robbery, may have seen something that can help police find the suspect.
A white man wearing glasses and a green zip-up fleece hoodie walked into the bank near the intersection of U.S. 41 and M-28 Wednesday and calmly asked a teller to fill up a bag he put on the counter. It happened at about 1:15 p.m. The suspect was in and out of the bank in under two minutes. The teller described the man as about 6’2 and between 200 and 220 pounds. Bank employees say the man left on foot, headed north.
Police from the surrounding area, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, have been searching for the suspect. Police are following up on a number of tips but are still asking that anyone with information contact the Chocolay Township Police department at 906.249.4040 or their local law enforcement agency.
