Marquette County Interim Administrator
Now that they know they’re losing the county administrator in a few weeks, Marquette County officials have a plan to go forward with.
On Friday, Steve Powers resigned so that he can take a new job as the city administrator in Ann Arbor.
His final day of work in Marquette will be a month from today – Thursday, September 8th.
Powers starts working downstate a week after that, on September 15th.
Marquette County Board chair Chuck Bergdahl has an interim plan to fill Powers’ shoes until someone permanent can be hired.
Under his proposal, Sawyer Airport operations manager Scott Erbisch would serve as county administrator.
County finance manager Sue Vercoe would serve as county controller.
Powers has been performing both of those duties.
Erbisch and Vercoe would have those responsibilities in addition to their existing jobs.
The County Board will consider Bergdahl’s ideas at a meeting tomorrow night.
